First Survey

This page walks through the full process of setting up a survey from scratch: building the content, previewing it, publishing it, and inviting participants.

After logging in, you will land on the Surveys list. Click New Survey to open the creation form, enter a name for the survey, and confirm. The survey editor opens automatically.

Questions in VeySur are organised into groups. A group acts as a page or section. There is one group by default. Give the group a name by clicking it in the editor and typing directly.

Within a group, click the + button below the group and select Add Question. A question type selector appears with question-type categories. Choose a category, then pick a question type. For a first survey, Text (under Simple) or Checkbox (under Choice) are good starting points.

Once the question is added, click it to focus it. The focused question is highlighted with a background colour. Enter the question text in the editor area. Use the attributes panel on the right to mark the question as required or to adjust type-specific options such as minimum/maximum values or answer options.

To add more questions, repeat this step or add a new group.

Click Preview in the left navigation. The survey is rendered exactly as a participant would see it. Check that the questions read clearly, the order is correct, and any conditional logic behaves as expected. No responses are recorded in Preview.

When the content is ready, click Publish in the top right of the Edit tab. A modal opens where you can review final settings, optionally add a label (for example, “Wave 1”) and notes, then confirm to publish.

If you want to set a start or end date, configure the schedule in the publish modal (you can also configure this on the Settings tab under Publish). Once a publication is active, its status shows as Published.

Go to the Participants tab. Add a participant manually by clicking Add Participant and filling in their first name, last name, and email address. To add many participants at once, use the Import option to upload a .csv file.

Once participants are added, click Send Invites. VeySur sends an invitation email to each participant who has not yet received one. A progress indicator shows how many emails have been sent.

Participants receive a link that takes them directly to the survey.

Once participants submit the survey, go to the Responses tab. A table lists each submission with the participant name, email, completion status, and submission date.

  • Use the search bar to find a response by ID, name, or email
  • Use the filter toolbar to narrow by date range, completion status, or publication
  • Click a row to open the full response and read each answer in detail
  • Click the download icon to export all responses as a CSV file

Click Stats in the left navigation (bar-chart icon). Each question is displayed as a card showing a chart of answer distribution (bar, horizontal bar, or pie, selectable per chart via the dropdown) and the count and percentage for each answer option.

Use the same date-range, completion status, and publication filters as the Responses tab to focus on a specific subset of submissions.

  • See Elements for a detailed explanation of the survey structure
  • See Question Types for the full list of available question formats
  • See Responses for information on viewing and exporting results.
